OK, I know it’s my fault for “being present in the moment” I don’t see how some actions affect those around me until I see the results of my actions. When I first started using Twitter, I thought it was cool to automatically update my Facebook Status with my tweets. I soon learned Facebook and Twitter are two different animals.
Twitter is a river while Facebook is a fishbowl.
On Twitter I carry on multiple conversations and can even get lost when someone doesn’t give me a clue what they’re commenting on. Friends on Facebook saw this stream of consciousness in the fishbowl of life and made even less sense with it – never mind the language shortcuts you take with on 140 characters to work with.
I’ll go on Facebook every couple of days to catch up with people. I occasionally update my status from Tweetdeck and automate my blog posts so some people think I’m on a lot more than I am.
It’s the blog posts that I’m worried about now and it’s all because “in the moment” I found something cool and thought I’d give it a go.
I found out I could import my blog posts to my notes. Here’s how:
1) In the “Applications” menu (in the bottom bar), choose “Notes.”
2) Under “Notes Settings,” click on “Import a blog”
3) Type in the URL of your blog and make sure to check the mini-EULA
4) At the bottom of the preview, click on “Confirm Import”
And that’s it — your blog is now available to all your Facebook friends and family.
Great… except Facebook used to be my #1 source for traffic to my site. That was back when I used ping.fm to update the Facebook status. One day I found it could also update the notes… forgetting of course I was already doing that.
Finally I found Networked blogs – which is a great source for connecting with other blogs who want to get found…they also post my blog posts to my wall.
That’s 3 posts to facebook for every 1 post I do… I may be forgetting Aweber… no that’s set to post to Twitter when the weekly email goes out.
Suffice it to say, my fishbowl is stuffed. I have friends on facebook commenting on facebook about my blog posts and I know I’ve turned off email notifications of comments because it was just too much for someone who is as easily distracted as I am.
I can turn off ping.fm no problem… that leaves two. I like using NetworkedBlogs because it’s a decent way to connect with bloggers. I have no idea how to turn off an imported RSS feed in Facebook — excellent, found the answer here I guess I can post this blog without blanketing my wall with it.
Which is good, because I’m working on some real fun posts today. You’ll need to catch them when they’re posted.

Hi Trevor,
