When Worry Isn’t Negative – Day 7
Truth:
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. I have taken an oath and confirmed it,that I will follow your righteous laws. Psalm 119:105-106
Thought:
The sword of the Spirit is the main offensive weapon mentioned in Ephesians 6 – prayer is another. Lies we believe can’t stand up to the word of God.
When satan tempted Jesus in the desert, Jesus always responded to the half truth with the full truth from the word of God. He didn’t argue points – he pointed out Scripture.
We need to do the same. To do it effectively we need to have the word of God inside of us. We can’t be passive in our knowledge, memorization and meditation of scripture. It’s our bread; our life.
Now, most of us who have been on the journey for a while know we can always learn more from the Bible and we should know the benefits of putting it to memory, but when the Bible says “I meditate…” how do we do that?
If you know how to worry, you know how to meditate. It’s like a cow chewing its cud. You think about a passage 100 different ways. You go over it again and again and again and again. It starts to work its way into your being and brings faith with it. It’s much like how worry brings fear into your being. Worry is negative because it grows fear. Meditation is positive because it grows faith.
Prayer:
Thank you, Lord, for Your word that is able to teach, rebuke, correct and train in righteousness. It is my bread. It is life. Thank You that by it I know about Your love, creation, friendship, salvation, mercy, grace, peace, assurance, restoration, cleansing, power, wisdom and knowledge. Thank You, Your word is alive and reads me. Speak to me as I read it. May I only read to learn more about You.
Challenge:
Pick a passage and meditate on it today. Spend some time in the morning; think about it throughout the day. Consider it on your bed at night. You’ll be living the command in Philippians 4:8: And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. (NLT)
Declaration:
I choose to put on the full armor of God. I put on truth. I put on righteousness. I put on peace. I put on faith. I put on salvation. And I choose to learn to use the word of God with great power and in love.
